The Selman Marrakech: Morocco’s best detox cure

A haven of peace just a few kilometers from the famous Jemaa el-Fna square, the superb Selman is one of Marrakech’s most sought-after spots. The palace is renowned for its superb 80-metre swimming pool and its stables, home to some of the country’s finest horses. The 5-star hotel is home to the Spa Espace Vitalité Chenot , which promises a detox in a dream setting.

A truly magnificent palace

At the foot of the Atlas mountains lies a top-class wellness address. A former stud farm, the Selman Marrakech is a veritable oriental palace, modernized by the creativity of Jacques Garcia.

One of the special features of Selman Marrakech is its close relationship with the horses. Novice riders can also benefit. We even offer horse therapy here.

Jacques Garcia’s take on Moroccan style

The Selman Marrakech’s accommodation reflects traditional culture. The decorative details recall the Arab-Moorish style and add a chic finish to these majestic spaces, giving them a very warm atmosphere, worthy of a Moroccan palace.

Surrounded by palm and olive trees, the hotel’s 60 rooms, suites and villas all have terraces, and the villas have private pools. Overlooking the hotel’s lush gardens and grandiose pool, the view from the accommodations is superb. We love lounging here after a day of detox at Espace Chenot.

Espace Chenot and its bio-energetic treatments

Nestled in the heart of the Selman Marrakech hotel, the Espace Vitalité Chenot is exclusive to Morocco. This 1,200 m² wellness center is an oriental-inspired spa. Set around a central pool, the spa features two large heated outdoor pools, hydrotherapy cabins and two steam rooms. There’s also a fitness room equipped with today’s best machines.

We’ve already introduced you to the Chenot method, which can also be found in other luxury detox hotels: Le Chenot Palace Weggis in Switzerland, Elounda Beach in Greece, One&Only Portonovi in Montenegro among others. It is based on the concept of organic detoxification and biontology: eliminating toxins from the body to free up energy .

Among the many treatments available at Espace Vitalité Chenot, the “must” is without doubt the Hydro Energie treatment, which combines three exceptional acts: a hot bath with elixirs formulated with essential oils (hydro-aromatherapy), a mud wrap with draining and detoxifying poultices (phyto-fangotherapy), and lastly, a 10-minute hydrojet session.

Chenot detox cures

Chenot detox cures last between 3 and 10 days. Following an individual assessment, various personalized treatments are offered throughout the cure to restore the body’s equilibrium and work on the problems identified upstream: fatigue, anxiety, problems of excess weight or water retention.

The method consists of a skilful blend of detoxifying massages, fitness sessions and hydrotherapy. If you’re more in the mood for Moroccan treatments, you’ll find many of the same treatments at the Selman as those offered in European palaces using the Chenot method.

Body treatments consist of different massages adapted to the needs of each organism: detox, relaxing, energizing, draining, even prenatal. They can target specific areas of the body, such as cellulite. The spa uses suction cups to enhance the draining effect of the massages.

The face is not forgotten. We’re talking about aesthetic biology here, with purifying or brightening treatments depending on demand. The treatments, which have a toning and draining effect, aim to release blocked energy within the body.

In the Chenot method, diet plays an important role in restoring the body’s equilibrium and eliminating toxins. In terms of gastronomy, a light “Biolight” menu has been specially designed to accompany the treatments. It consists mainly of proteins, legumes and fresh fruit. The aim is to eliminate acidity and make the body alkaline. Of course, it’s delicious, and you can enjoy your tailor-made biolight menu at two of the hotel’s restaurants: Le Selman and Le Pavillon.

The Selman’s four restaurants embark guests on sophisticated taste experiences where traditional Moroccan cuisine merges with trendy flavors. In a setting worthy of a fairytale from Arabian Nights, the magic is not just in the food, but also in the exceptional atmosphere.
