Meeting a community

After a 25-minute flight from Kathmandu, it’s another half-hour’s drive from the airport before you find yourself in this enchanted environment: nestled in the verdant Pokhara valley, surrounded by gently sloping mountains, the resort’s villas and buildings blend delicately into the natural surroundings.

Witness to ancestral activity: magnificent rice terraces, a farming village and a farm adjoining the resort, where most of the produce offered to guests at Pavilions Himalayas resort is grown.

The Pavilions hotel group is particularly committed toimproving the living conditions of the communities in which it operates, and invests a large proportion of its profits to this end. After founding a health-care center for the inhabitants of the village of Pumdi Bhumdi and building a road, he joined forces with the NGO Right4Children to give village children access to studies in the hotel and tourism industries.

Visitors to the resort are invited to share in the daily life of these students during a cooking class, as well as to visit the village and the organic farm.

After-effort comfort

Particularly popular with backpackers returning from trekking the Himalayan slopes, the resort’s spa and yoga studio offer the best of Ayurvedic wisdom to heal bodies sore from days of walking. The minds of urban workers under stress are also put to rest and relieved of all the stigma of stress.

Start the day with a sunrise yoga session, followed by a light breakfast and a stroll through the adjacent village to meet the valley’s inhabitants. A long sauna session follows, before entrusting yourself to the expert hands of Ayurvedic therapists for in-house treatments using Pavilions Himalayas signature products.

Last but not least, guests at Pavilions Himalayas resort can enjoy a dip in the club house’s sumptuous infinity pool, with its views over the surrounding countryside.

Relaxation and spirituality

Primarily Hindu, Nepal is a deeply spiritual country, also strongly influenced by Buddhism (Buddha is said to have been born in Nepal). The two religions rub shoulders so intimately that some places of worship are shared.

At Pavilions Himalayas resort, this soothing syncretism can be felt: prayer turnstiles and yoga classes are just some of the tools available to those seeking to reconnect with their spiritual side.

A dream location for a yoga retreat

Among the turnkey offers, we’re particularly interested in the Yoga Retreat of 4 days and 3 nights entirely dedicated to the practice of yoga, under the guidance of teacher Shayam Gourung.

Practice, theory, breathing, meditation, yoga therapy, chanting, massage and healthy eating are on the agenda for this short stay 100% dedicated to the practice of yoga in all its forms.

Luxury lakeside camping

In addition to the original resort, Pavilions Himalayas has expanded with the creation of an eco village on the other side of Lake Phewa. To reach these luxurious bungalows, cross the lake by boat, then follow a gently sloping path that leads to the wooden and canvas pavilions. The more athletic will make the journey entirely on foot from the main resort, for a hike of just under three hours.

Surrounded by rice terraces and the foothills of the Anapurna mountains, the eight bungalows in this eco-village allow you to immerse yourself in the heart of nature in complete privacy, while enjoying top-of-the-range comfort and facilities. Sobriety is the order of the day, but every piece of furniture and every decorative object is a unique piece of craftsmanship, handcrafted from the finest materials.

Respecting nature

Surrounded by sublime natural landscapes, the hotel has been committed to respecting this environment since its creation, thanks to the implementation of green solutions such as solar energy, rainwater harvesting, biogas production and organic farming. The beauty and care products used at the spa are made on site with local ingredients.

At the table, traditional Nepalese cuisine, full of color and fresh local produce, rubs shoulders with more international dishes that are always healthy. All are made using produce from the adjoining organic farm, with a minimum of imported raw materials, to minimize the environmental impact of Pavilions Himalayas and its visitors.
