Quinta Da Comporta: Relax between white sand and green rice fields

A hotel where serenity reigns, in harmony with its rejuvenating surroundings. This was the wish of renowned Portuguese architect Miguel Câncio Martins when he built Quinta Da Comporta, an hour south of Lisbon. The setting is ideal for relaxation: facing the rice fields of the village of Carvalhal, a magnificent infinity pool invites guests to bask in the sun. The bohemian chic style of the decor blends in with the hotel’s values of respect for the environment and its cultural heritage. In the beautiful spa, you can indulge in ricetherapy, a range of treatments based on locally-produced rice.

In harmony with the landscape

The hotel is located on the Atlantic coast, framed by Comporta’s white sandy beaches, pine forests and lush rice fields. Just an hour’s drive south of Lisbon, Quinta da Comporta’s location invites you to disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with the simplicity of nature. Relaxation and rejuvenation are the watchwords of this wellness-oriented Boutique Hotel.

The resort’s architect and developer, Miguel Câncio Martins, wanted to create a place that defied space and time. Designed as a typical village, it’s a place that reconnects its guests with the simple things in life. The hotel blends into the landscape thanks to its natural color palette and its commitment to eco-responsibility. Solar panels, reuse of waste water in the gardens and electric bicycles ensure that the facility has as little impact as possible on the surrounding environment.

A charming, natural bohemian style

Three types of accommodation are available at Quinta da Comporta: rooms, houses and villas with swimming pool.

Bohemian style can be found throughout the 73 homes, where natural materials typical of the region, such as wood, stone and straw, lend a rustic charm. The decor is based onlocal craftsmanship, while the sandy tones create a serene, sophisticated ambience.

Deluxe Rooms offer garden views and are around 40 m² in size.

Townhouse suites range in size from 50 to 113 m². Some are rooftop, with views of the rice paddies and pool, while others have two bedrooms.

The four Pool Villas have the privilege of overlooking the rice paddies and the garden. They are also the most spacious at 300 m². With three bedrooms, they are perfect for vacations with family or friends. The little extra we can’t get enough of: a private swimming pool.

Pamper yourself at the Oryza Spa

Therapeutic rituals and beauty treatments are on the program at the hotel spa. Comprising a hammam and indoor pool, it’s a place where everyone can balance and restore their energy flows. Many of our treatments use rice-based cosmetics, hence the concept of ricetherapy.

Traditional Chinese medical practices have a major influence on the treatments offered: acupuncture, cupping and Amnu Fu (an abdominal massage based on the five elements).

Special mention for the rejuvenating facial with acupuncture and Gua Sha. It’s a great natural alternative to botox, stimulating toxin elimination and blood circulation to help generate new cells.

A la carte treatments focus on in-depth body work, such as toxin elimination, fat loss and even joint health.

A couple’s ritual is also available, and the experience can even be extended with a workshop to learn how to massage your loved one.

Working on yourself: yoga retreat or personal coach

The hotel offers yoga retreats with guest speakers, each with their own enriching influences: Hatha, Vinyasa, Kundalini, meditation… It’s an immersion in the philosophy of mindful yoga.

These retreats are unique and limited to a small number of people.

Domingos is the hotel’s sports coach, and offers a wide range of practices such as Cardio Boxing, weight loss, posture work, joint work and motivation. He personalizes each session according to objectives and needs.

Fresh produce for authentic cuisine

The authenticity of the Quinta da Comporta experience extends to the end of the fork. Each dish is a clever blend of traditional flavors and sensory discoveries.

Whether indoors or out, you can enjoy the sunsets in an elegant, relaxing setting… and indulge in a drink! The hotel bar has created a menu of signature cocktails as colorful as they are fragrant. And Quinta da Comporta makes no secret of the fact that its secret lies in its Organic Garden, the source of the characteristic flavours of its drinks.
