A hotel in the shape of an art gallery

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, The Dolder Grand underwent a facelift in 2008, with a magnificent spa and a breathtaking art collection. With over a hundred recognized works of art, this hotel literally acts as an art gallery. Art iPads are available to learn more about the paintings and statues decorating the common areas. Works by Fernando Botero, Niki de Saint Phalle,Andy Warhol and many other prestigious artists are the pride of this extraordinary luxury hotel.

Artistic and original design

The hotel’s 175 rooms and suites are divided between two buildings: the historic part of the hotel and a more modern one. All are spacious and offer a view of the forest, the lake or Zurich’s rooftops. The interior is decorated with refinement and modernity. The rooms are all different, with circular and rounded design elements, including oval-shaped sofas and elegantly curved furniture.

The four “Top Suites” are inspired by famous artists who have stayed at The Dolder Grand. Take the Carezza Suite, whose design is influenced by the style of Alberto Giacometti. Or the Masina Suite, in reference to the Italian actress Giuletta Masina: a glamorous 170 m² jewel from the 1950s. In addition to the original interior, these suites all feature a terrace and private sauna.

If you dream of panoramic views, we recommend the avant-garde Golf Suite. Located on the top floor, its terrace boasts a 270° view! Note that some rooms, the Family Rooms, are specially designed for family stays.

4000 m² of modern wellness

The Dolder Grand Spa puts relaxation at the heart of the customer experience. With 4,000 m² of spa space divided into fitness, wellness and aquatic areas, there’s something for everyone. The spa even has two separate sections for men and women. There’s a large 25-meter-long swimming pool, a Jacuzzi on the terrace, a steam room, a sanarium and a mixed sauna.

You can even browse through a few pages in the spa library, or refresh yourself with a fresh fruit juice in the Spa Café. Relaxation continues in the relaxation room, or in one of the cabins for a wellness treatment.

Several sporting activities, such as yoga and pilates classes, can be organized. And if you feel like letting off some steam outdoors, the hotel offers personalized outdoor fitness coaching.

Two Spa Suites offer everything you need to suspend time: steam room, whirlpool, spiral shower and fireplace. They can be booked for a minimum of two hours, with or without additional treatments. They can also be the occasion for a moment for two with a purifying treatment using Amala organic massage oil, accompanied by a glass of champagne. Cheers!

Cutting-edge care with epigenetic testing

The treatments on the spa menu are listed under different wellness objectives: relaxation, beauty, vitality and detox. All of them are delicately lavished by wellness experts using very specific products from three major brands:

  • Amala with top-of-the-range 100% natural products based on active plant ingredients and modern biochemical techniques.
  • La Prairie with beauty products based on luxurious elements such as caviar.
  • Dr. Burgener ‘s rejuvenating cosmetics and fully personalized Haute Couture program.

Wellness experiences for body and mind are also on offer. With binaural sound in the background, you are guided through various meditation techniques.

To complete its wellness offering, The Dolder Grand has extensive expertise in body and nutritional analysis.

Customers can first take a cardio-scan, which is an analysis of physical condition and body composition. This includes an electrocardiogram as well as recording and assessment of heart rate variability and stress levels, metabolism, body composition and blood pressure.

It is also one of the few hotels to offer analyses that take epigenetic factors into account. The environment and the way we live can have an impact on the way our genes function. What’s on your plate also influences the expression of your genes… With SWAMI Genotype analysis, you can find out which foods are best suited to your genotype, and which ones to avoid. This analysis takes just 90 minutes. Time well spent!

Style even on the plate

In the Saltz restaurant, typical regional products are given pride of place in a kitchen open to the world. Between the savoury creations of chef Julian Mai and the gourmet delights of pastry chef Christian Hümbs, there’s something for everyone! The original interior designed by Rolf Sachs is in keeping with the “simplistic sophistication” of chef Julian Mai’s menu. The restaurant was awarded 14 Gault Millau points. In summer, the terrace is open for al fresco dining.

With two Michelin stars and 19 points in the Gault&Millau guide, The Restaurant is a gourmet address of choice in Zurich, always in a stylish ambience. Young and innovative, chef Heiko Nieder’s cuisine is perfumed with countless aromas. She surprises with a six- or ten-course menu for dinner and an “amuse-bouche” menu for lunch. Over 500 wines are available to accompany your meal.

If you’re feeling peckish, you can always head for the lobby. Fresh drinks, cocktails, pastries and other delicacies are served in a majestic setting. Contemporary art meets historic elements to create a unique atmosphere. There’s as much for the taste buds as for the eyes…
