Peaks and summits

The hotel is a luxury address not to be missed, as much for its prestigious Six Senses spa and wellness facilities as for its immediate access to mountain sports. The Alpina Gstaad boasts one of the best geographical locations for sporting activities in the heart of nature, in winter and summer alike. Various museums, excursions to the village of Gruyère (yes, the birthplace of this cheese), boat trips on Lake Thun, and other kinds of discovery activities are also possible nearby.

In a refined, resolutely Alpine decor, the atmosphere is very cosy. To the sound of wood crackling in the fireplace, you can read a few pages of a book, sip a detox infusion in front of the superb mountain view, or even admire the hotel’s many works of art.

In the heart of Switzerland, the hotel is located in Gstaad. The nearest airport is Saanen (6.5 km from the hotel). The village of Gstaad is also served by a railway station.

The Alpina Gstaad boasts a charming range of 56 rooms and suites, all with private terraces and breathtaking views. The décor is inspired by local Alpine-style craftsmanship. Wood panelling, fireplaces made from local rocks and traditional furniture combine with contemporary modernity, always with refinement.

Among The Alpina Gstaad’s various accommodations, the Panorama Suite is the only one available. At 400m², it’s the hotel’s largest suite. It is designed as a duplex, with an exclusive spa area. Fitness room, massage room and Jacuzzi occupy the top floor of the suite.

As an alternative to a cosy apartment, we recommend the Grand Luxe Suites. They’ve been arranged to make you feel right at home. The large bedroom is adjacent to a dressing room, and the living area features a dining area and lounge with fireplace. A separate office is also part of this 100 m² suite.

Switzerland’s only Six Senses Spa

The Alpina Gstaad is home to Switzerland’s only Six Senses spa . The prestigious holistic world of Six Senses is essentially influenced by the ancient medicinal traditions of the East, supported by modern techniques too.

Indoor and outdoor pools (including a special children’s pool), Jacuzzis, a yoga studio, a gym and a juice bar complement the spa’s wellness treatments. With its holistic detox programs and anti-aging treatments, the spa menu is designed for every need. Note that the spa is playing the local card by collaborating with the Dr. Burgener, specialist in anti-aging treatments.

Inside, there are 12 treatment rooms , including one dedicated to color therapy, one to Ayurvedic science, one for colon hydration and a double cabin. Others offer oriental treatments with hammams and mineral salt therapies.

The Six Senses Spa also features a flotation tank. The principle is to float in a solution of Epsom salt (magnesium sulfate) without any external distractions. The five senses are thus completely at rest.

Take pleasure in the spa or outdoors

All our wellness programs are based on a holistic philosophy, with a focus on revitalization and positive energy. This is as true psychologically as it is physically. Many programs are based on the practice of yoga, such as those focusing on improving sleep, or simply on a discovery of yoga. The detox program is also based on personalized sessions of yoga, meditation and pranayama (breathing techniques). These practices are complemented by other treatments such as massage, facials and colonic hydration.

There are also holistic experiences focusing on other objectives: anti-aging, or a week following the principles of Tibetan medicine. During this wellness holiday, you can discover the philosophy of the five elements of nature through your body, mind and soul. It’s a real adventure that leads to greater communion with one’s inner self. With a daily practice of meditation and Tibetan breathing, as well as singing bowl treatments and traditional massages, you’ll almost forget you’re in Switzerland.

With a setting like this, there’s no need to tell you that outdoor sports activities can be the rhythm of your stay. In winter, you can go skiing, climbing, ice skating or take a sleigh ride. In summer, you can enjoy hiking, canoeing, rafting and golf.

Renowned restaurants

Sommet, Megu and Swiss Stübli are the hotel’s three restaurants.

Chef Marti Göschel created the menu for the Sommet gourmet restaurant. His travels in France, Italy, Southeast Asia and South America inspire each of his creations. A restaurant awarded one star by Gault Millau and the Michelin Guide.

MEGU takes guests on a journey from the Swiss mountains to Japan, offering the widest variety of sake in Switzerland. MEGU also boasts a Michelin star, and was rated the best Asian restaurant in Switzerland by Gault Millau. The restaurant’s interior is also worth a visit, with decor by Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance, inspired by the temples of Kyoto.

Swiss cuisine takes center stage at Swiss Stübli. In a friendly atmosphere, it’s the place to be to end a day of skiing or hiking in style. Fondues and raclettes modernized and reinterpreted by chefs.

At the Alpina Lounge & Bar, you can accompany a light meal with an original cocktail. In a hushed atmosphere, the large picture windows plunge guests straight into the heart of the mountains. For wine lovers, the hotel has a cellar with over 1,700 bottles. The Wine Cellar is particularly popular for private tastings.
