A detox in the heart of Paris? That’s the crazy bet launched at the beginning of 2021 by this palace, undoubtedly one of the capital’s finest hotels. Hôtel Lutetia has everything in store for guests’ well-being : in addition to its superb swimming pool, the Akasha spa offers yoga, meditation, fitness classes and consultations with a renowned nutritionist. Healthy menus and freshly squeezed juices top it all off. You don’t have to go far to feel good!
The most beautiful hotel on the Left Bank
Le Lutetia has been theemblematic address of Paris’s 6th arrondissement since it opened its doors in 1910. Located on the edge of the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district, opposite the Le Bon Marché department store and close to the Seine, it has been a haven for artists such as Pablo Picasso and Ernest Hemingway. In the 1950s, businessmen and celebrities gathered at the Lutetia bar to enjoy some of the best jazz in Paris.
The Lutetia underwent a complete renovation by Jean-Michel Wilmotte between 2014 and 2018, and now combines the charm of its architectural heritage with the most modern décor and facilities. The hotel offers 184 rooms, including 49 suites.
The Art Nouveau style blends with modernity with great elegance. The colors are soothing, the decor contemporary, and some rooms even have a view of the Iron Lady.
Rooms at Hôtel Lutetia are larger than the Paris average. Some have balconies and views of the Eiffel Tower. Suites are larger, and most have a separate sitting area.
With large surface areas (up to 180 m², a luxury unheard of in Paris), the signature suites offer all the comfort you could wish for. Designer furniture and bed linen by Garnier-Thiebaut. The hotel doesn’t forget well-being: every reservation in a signature suite includes a spa treatment for two.
Spa Akasha: well-being in all its forms
The Akasha wellness center boasts a superb swimming pool, worthy of being featured on the cover of architecture magazines. There’s also a Jacuzzi, sauna, steam room, six treatment rooms, hairdresser and a 100 m² high-tech fitness area. The equipment is state-of-the-art, and there are a wide range of classes on offer, from bootcamp to boxing and many styles of yoga. A section is even reserved for body-building.
The common thread running through Spa Akasha is the integration of the four elements of air, water, fire and earth into wellness. According to this philosophy, the spa includes breathing techniques for the Air element, it has infrastructures based on Water, its treatments awaken certain energies attached to the Fire element and you can enjoy healthy menus and detox drinks, in reference to the Earth element.
The spa menu presents its treatments according to the products used, and therefore the wellness objective targeted. In particular, Spa Akasha has chosen to collaborate with three leading brands specializing in anti-aging and natural cosmetics: Carita, Cellcosmet and Aromatherapy Associates. Detox, anti-aging and slimming are the most common objectives.
Note also that the Akasha spa has chosen to work with recognized beauty and wellness experts, such as hairstylist Christophe-Nicolas Biot, micro-nutritionist Valérie Espinasse and massage therapist Daniele Beniamini.
