A resort overlooking the Aegean Sea

Aman has developed a modern version of Acropolis in Porto Heli, on Greece’s east coast, a 2.5-hour drive from Athens. Greece has been the birthplace of some of the world’s greats, and it’s easy to see how this gentle way of life could have inspired them. It’s all here: the sea, the sun and an indescribable serenity, which can be found throughout the resort. The interiors echo the gentle landscapes, Mediterranean fragrances and age-old culture of ancient Greece.

Nearby are Unesco-listed historic sites, small fishing villages, colorful beaches and islands that can be reached by boat. There’s no shortage of activities for young and old alike. Amanzoe invites guests to discover the region through visits to ancient archaeological ruins, local cooking classes, or with beekeepers sharing their methods.

When typical Greek architecture meetscontemporary aesthetics, light-colored stone creates wide-open spaces overlooking nature, contrasted by the green of the cypress trees and the blue of the Aegean Sea. All of Amanzoe’s pavilions and villas welcome resort guests in uncluttered interiors with high ceilings and natural colors. As if that weren’t enough, all our accommodations boast a terrace with private pool .

The pavilions are distinguished in particular by the size of their pools, 6 m long for the Pool Pavilion and 12 m for the Deluxe Pool Pavilion. The Beach Cabanas are even more privileged, as they are right next to the beach, with private access.

One of the villas offers a unique artistic experience through James Turrell’s Skyspace installation: a room whose ceiling opens up to the sky. There are almost a hundred of these luminous works of art in the world, all of which are unique. Spend entire nights wandering from star to star!

Amanzoe’s largest villa is a jewel of the luxury hotel industry. With nine bedrooms, including three with private pools, a games room, a spa with sauna, hammam, a dedicated yoga area and two cabins, as well as three pools (one indoor), this villa exceeds all expectations. It comes with its own dedicated team…

Wellness according to Hippocrates

Amanzoe has several sports facilities. Two floodlit tennis courts are available, with advice from a tennis pro if required. A gym is fully equipped with the latest machines, and the resort has a yoga studio with mountain views and a studio dedicated to pilates.

Although all the resort’s accommodations have their own swimming pool, a 25-meter-long communal pool is located at the heart of the property. Just a 10-minute drive from the resort is the superb Beach Club, with everything you could wish for: sun loungers, two adult pools, two pools for the little ones, non-motorized water sports, treatment cabins and a small fitness room…

As for the spa, there’s plenty to choose from. In the six treatment cabins (some with their own hammam), you can enjoy a multitude of treatments based on ancestral sciences such as Chinese medicine andAyurveda. The spa even boasts a pool dedicated to Watsu therapy, which involves therapeutic movements and stretching in warm water. Because it floats, and therefore has no gravity, this therapy allows the whole body to relax and release all its tensions.

Amanzoe drew his inspiration from the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, who believed in the power of nature and the human body. In these texts, he strongly emphasized the importance ofa healthy lifestyle to strengthen the body’s resistance to disease.

An important aspect of the Aman spa is the quality of the treatments and products used. Here, there’s only room for natural ingredients and ancestral techniques. For example, in the hammam, we apply 100% natural Black Soap. At the spa, lavender extracts scent the rooms. What’s more, all signature treatments begin with a traditional ceremony using black amber, Palo Santo or frankincense. From 2021, Aman will take its wellness offering even further by developing its range of VAS food supplements made from natural Chinese herbs and micronutrient supplements.

Stays dedicated to wellness

Wellness is an integral part of the Aman philosophy, and we offer a range of wellness programs with different objectives. Some stays are specially designed to improve sleep, others focus on sporting activities in the great outdoors, while others are designed to restore inner peace and balance. These programs are designed for a four-night stay, but can be extended. They begin with a consultation at the start of your stay, enabling the wellness experts to get to know you and your needs, so they can tailor activities and treatments to suit you. A final consultation allows you to analyze your feelings and receive advice on how to continue your wellness experience.

The Restore & Balance program includes four different massages and a facial, all lasting one hour. Private yoga and pilates classes are also on the program, as well as two personalized coaching sessions. And to bring it all together, a session of Reiki and sound therapy will make you feel lighter and more in tune with yourself. It’s a holiday recommended for people lacking clarity in their lives and somewhat overwhelmed by stress.

The Sleep Enhancement program takes a similar approach, with massages, treatments and therapy sessions such as Reiki or sound. This does not include a pilates session, but three private yoga classes, as well as three Yoga Nidra meditations. The aim here is to learn how to control the various factors affecting your sleep, and to recognize the daily signs to watch out for.

Authentic flavours guaranteed

The Aman experience continues right through to the end of the fork, in sleek, elegant surroundings. Cooked products are seasonal and respect the ethical principles of the hotel chain. The resort has its own organic vegetable garden, whose vegetables and herbs end up directly on guests’ plates.

In the restaurant, the view almost steals the show from the gourmet menu, which explores a wide palette from traditional Greek flavors to must-try international dishes. Whether you’re sitting on the terrace or indoors, you’ll soon be captivated by the panorama of gradations of blue. For lunch, the Pool Restaurant menu offers light meals with Mediterranean flavours. Overlooking the pool, you’ll enjoy a magnificent view of the Aegean Sea.

For something a little more exotic, Restaurant Nama offers traditional cuisine straight from Japan, also known as Washoku. True to its values, Aman works with the best Japanese producers to restore the authenticity of traditional dishes. In the gourmet restaurant, too, the decor is exceptional: a swimming pool with a circular terrace at its center, a 360° view of the coast and floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
