Our review : Aki Family Resort in the Dolomites

By Pascal Languillon, founder of Luxe Wellness Club.

Some places have that immediate magic, that rare balance between aesthetics, well-being and attention to detail. In July 2025, my wife Virginie and my daughters Nina and Ophélie and I settled down at AKI Family Resort for a joyful, relaxing and wonderfully orchestrated getaway. It was a dream vacation where young and old alike found their place, in a setting thought out with rare intelligence. Here’s a look back at an enchanted interlude that will live long in our hearts. An exceptional family resort offering wellness for all!

An extremely well-designed resort

As a preamble, I’d like to say thatyou can’t book a stay at this hotel unless you’re accompanied by at least one child. Isn’t that great? Arriving at AKI Family Resort sets the tone from the very first minutes. A fluid architecture, integrated into nature, where the lines of the buildings blend perfectly with the forest in the background.

The reception area faces the Kid’s club, and Ophélie is already running towards the slide! Light wood, rattan furniture, touches of plants… The simple, warm elegance of a place designed to welcome families without sacrificing comfort. First “wow” effect guaranteed.

The family suite awaits us. It’s like a small apartment with two separate bedrooms, a small sitting area, and a terrace with a lovely view. The materials are noble and natural: linen, raw wood, organic cotton. The soft bedding makes you want to dive right in.

The children jump for joy, discovering the bathroom with its sink adapted to their size. For my part, I notice the organic toiletries, with their soothing scents. The suite is functional and pleasant, without being incredible, but in the end we’ll be spending very little time there.

Everything is designed with the little ones in mind, from cupboards to child-height washbasins. Luxury here means sincere attention to everyday details.

A hotel that makes you want to be 5 again

The kids club attracts children like a magnet. They literally run to it, delighted to discover a playful, caring world, supervised by entertainers as enthusiastic as they are professional. On the program: creative workshops (pottery, vegetable painting, weaving), pizza-making with the chef, cocktail preparation, life-size treasure hunts. Nina returns every day with unlikely works of art and a huge smile. Ophélie befriends a little girl from Côte d’Ivoire, and they spend their days exploring the games.

What’s most impressive is the autonomy they enjoy here. Everything is secure and designed with their freedom in mind. What other 5-star hotel doesn’t worry about where the kids are?

The great luxury of AKI is its ability to offer activities for children on their own as well as for the whole family. One morning, we set off together on an electric mountain bike to explore the pine forest around the resort. Nina pedals with energy, Ophélie in the child seat at the back sings at the top of her voice.

In the afternoon, it’s time for a family swim in the main pool or family games organized by the hotel.

Happiness for all

Among the resort’s most exhilarating attractions, it’s hard to miss the giant slides installed at the heart of the family aquatic area. Carved out of a wooden structure and perfectly integrated into the natural setting, there’s nothing classic about these slides: they’re ultra-fast and above all… timed. Each time down, a digital sensor displays the time taken on a luminous screen. The perfect opportunity for a healthy family competition. Nina and I went downhill after downhill, timing each other, trying to beat our own records and above all… each other’s. Excitement, splashing and laughter.

Nestled just below the resort, AKI’s small educational farm is home to goats, rabbits, chickens, and above all… adorable alpacas that children can walk along a small forest path. Pleasure guaranteed.

A definite advantage of AKI Family Resort is its proximity to Plose. A cable car took us up to the resort from where the wonderful family-friendly Woody Walk departs. The walk unfolds its charms step by step, between wooden play stations and mini-challenges: giant Ploseblitz bobsleigh, ox-cart-style climbing tree, forest telephone, passages where you have to avoid touching the ground – so many invitations to play and slow down. The landscapes, however, remain grandiose: the Dolomites are revealed at every turn, jagged needles, glittering faraway places...

The resort takes care to extend the magic into the evenings, with a family program that varies every night of the week. Inside, a cozy cinema welcomes young and old alike for comforting screenings. Soft armchairs, subdued lighting, immersive sound: everything is brought together to recreate the atmosphere of a real cinema, in an intimate version.

On certain evenings, the atmosphere becomes more participative, with musical blind tests where families compete to guess the fastest song to play – Disney, pop, 80s hits, there’s something for everyone. Laughter guaranteed. At other times, themed quizzes are organized by the entertainment team, with questions for children and parents alike.

What also appeals about this resort is its high level of ecological awareness. Selective sorting, composting, plastic banning, solar energy, organic vegetable gardens, partnerships with local craftsmen… every gesture is designed with sustainability in mind, without ever preaching. It’s simply natural. The children take part in a “zero waste” workshop where they make their own bee wraps and discover how to recycle an old T-shirt into a bag.

A rejuvenating adults-only spa

The adults-only wellness area is a small sanctuary suspended in time. Nestled at the far end of the resort, between pine and eucalyptus trees, the AKI spa offers a complete thermal course.

It’s impossible to talk about this holiday without mentioning Forest Ritual, the signature treatment at AKI’s adults-only spa. It’s an experience like no other, designed as an intimate, almost secret, inner journey. It begins with a deep exfoliation, using raw yet delicate textures to cleanse, awaken and prepare the skin for relaxation. Gestures are precise and enveloping, accompanied by woody, resinous scents reminiscent of the nearby forest.

Then comes the massage. Slow, firm, with warm oil. The body relaxes, thoughts drift away and the mind begins to float. The filtered light, the hushed silence, the expert hands… Everything is geared to a single goal: total release. But the highlight of the ritual is the hydrotherapy bath facing the forest, in a deep bathtub surrounded by picture windows. There, in warm water infused with Alpine herbs, a half-bottle of sparkling wine awaits, accompanied by a refined snack of fruit and savory morsels. The bubbles sparkle as my thoughts fade. The body is light, the moment suspended.

Superb saunas overlooking the forest (Photo: Luxe Wellness Club)

Gentle yoga classes are held every morning on a suspended terrace. My wife Virginie takes advantage of this twice during her stay, while Nina participates in a “yoga kids” session with postures adapted to her age. Again, nothing is imposed, everything flows.

Every day, I move from an herbal sauna to a 90°C Finnish cabin, where the heat purifies both mind and skin. Breathing becomes slow; tension slips away like leaves to the ground. The delicate surprise of the outdoor plunge pool with its cold bath comes next. The freshness is lively and invigorating, and the contrast awakens every fibre of my being. This spa is pure bliss!

Healthy, tasty, convivial meals

At AKI, dining is all about simple pleasure and precision. Nothing pompous, nothing overdone. Just the right amount of generosity, freshness, and a constant concern to offer healthy, colorful cuisine for all generations. From morning to night, meals follow a fluid rhythm, perfectly integrated into the life of the resort.

Each day began for us in the bright, sun-drenched dining room. Breakfast here took on the air of an Alpine market. Freshly cut fruit, warm breads, local cheeses, homemade granola, eggs cooked to order. Nina went straight for the blueberry pancakes, while Ophélie had fun making her own toast with raspberry jam and almond butter. For my part, I savored the fresh juices and the strong espresso, watching the mountain still shrouded in mist.

At lunchtime, it was the “life cooking” section that caught the eye. Three live cooking stations sizzled vegetables, meat and fish in a convivial atmosphere. The variety was impressive: Mediterranean cuisine, Tyrolean touches, sometimes Asian inspirations… The children had their own buffet, right up their alley, with simple, well-balanced dishes, always beautifully presented.

Ophélie often asked for pizza, and Nina loved the homemade gnocchi topped with sweet tomato sauce. A small area with microwave, bottle warmer and ready-to-use purées was also available for families with babies – an appreciated detail.

In the evening, the atmosphere was stepped up a notch. The room was more subdued in its lighting, the tables were tableclothed, and the dishes were more refined. Starters were grabbed from the buffet – carpaccio, soups, roasted vegetables – before giving way to a carefully presented five-course menu.

That evening, I remember a fillet of alpine trout on a bed of creamy polenta and a vanilla millefeuille that rivaled the best Italian pastries. All accompanied, if desired, by an extra glass of wine.

But the highlight of the show was undoubtedly the chocolate fountain. Strawberries, pieces of banana, brioche cubes… everything went into the chocolate stream, in a mix of intense concentration and knowing laughter.

AKI’s cuisine doesn’t try to impress. It just hits the spot. Fresh, family-style, healthy, but without austerity. Everyday gastronomy, adapted to every taste, where everything is done to ensure that eating remains a joyful, free, shared moment. A reflection of the entire resort.

Family verdict

“AKI Family Resort embodies everything that family luxury should be today: sincere hospitality, sumptuous but never flashy surroundings, constant attention paid to young and old alike. The adults-only spa, treatments in the forest, cheerful buffets at children’s level, convivial evenings, timed slides… Every moment spent here has been simple and precious, part of a beautiful family harmony. A place where you can reconnect with what’s essential. ” Pascal, 48 years old.

“I think this hotel is great, terrific, there’s something for everyone. Even parents have a blast! The scenery is magnificent. What I like most is that the kids have their independence, they can do what they want. You can even order juice and hot chocolate on your own at the bar. “Nina, 10 years old.

“We made lots of friends and it was incredible”. Ophélie, 5 years old.
