INTAAYA Bali: Wellness retreats

On the cliffs of Nusa Penida, facing the immensity, Intaaya invites you to take a breath of fresh air. This confidential refuge precisely combines holistic well-being, sustainable development and elegance without ostentation. But Intaaya is not just another spa hotel or yoga center! Its a place entirely dedicated to wellness retreats, designed to accommodate just a handful of guests. Over seven nights, guests experience a journey of Balinese rituals, mindfulness practices, natural treatments, moments of silence and raw nature. Far from the codes of classic tourism, Intaaya offers a profound, regenerating and essential experience. No alcohol, no omnipresent screens, no ostentatious luxury. Instead, breath, care and slowness. Intaaya allows you to relax, to rediscover a simple, living connection to yourself, to others and to the world.

INTAAYA and the landscapes of Nusa Penida in Bali

East of Bali, on the unspoilt island of Nusa Penida, Intaaya blends into a mineral landscape. The cliffs plunge steeply into the Indian Ocean, not far from Diamond Beach. The place seems cut off from the world, but is easily reached from Bali. Forty minutes by boat and a road across the island are enough to break the usual rhythm.

Here, it all starts with nature. Intaaya spans almost 2 hectares, with exclusive access to a private cove, permaculture gardens and views that call for no filter. The building follows the principles ofregenerative architecture, 100% energy self-sufficient (solar), rainwater and ambient humidity harvesting, on-site wastewater treatment, zero plastic. Every single element is an attention to the environment and the island’s resources, right down to the smallest detail.

A holistic, human and grounded experience

What sets Intaaya apart is undoubtedly its ability to combine inner intensity with a gentle welcome. Far from a simple hotel service, an entire team works behind the scenes to make each retreat a deeply embodied moment. Internationally renowned therapists, yoga teachers, Balinese healers, breathwork or energy practitioners… Each and every one of them is carefully selected, not for their prestige, but for their ability to guide with accuracy, humility and presence.

Around them, an attentive and caring local team provides discreet but constant support. Each guest is supervised by a dedicated member of staff, ensuring that their stay is smooth, intimate and respectful of their individual rhythms.

Accommodation in harmony with the land

Intaaya’s 13 tent suites seem to be an extension of nature. Dressed in noble, local materials, they are anchored in the earth with their rammed earth walls and recycled wood furniture, handcrafted by local artisans.

There are three categories:

  • Premium Tent Suite – Type A (62 m²): 1 king-size bed, ideal for single or double occupancy, with panoramic terrace.
  • Premium Tent Suite – Type B (98 m²): 2 queen-size beds (or a king-size bed on request), perfect for friends or families.
  • VIP Cliffside Suite (130 m²): 2 king-size beds, two bathrooms, living room and breathtaking views.

Each tent is air-conditioned, equipped with organic linen (linen or bamboo), organic toiletries, and its own outdoor space. Tranquil luxury, without overload, where every element seems to have found its obvious place.

INTAAYA, the promise of a return to oneself

At Intaaya, well-being isn’t added to the experience, it’s part of it. Every breath, every silence, every ritual contributes to a profound reconnection. Far from a fixed model, the journey here is lively, fluid and intimate. It adapts to what you’re ready to encounter, or to let go of.

A signature retreat each month, focusing on one element

Each month, Intaaya offers a 7-night retreat with an elemental theme. Water to let go, fire to rediscover your power, air to open up new perspectives, earth to anchor yourself, ether to soar, or silence to integrate.

Each day follows a carefully thought-out, but never imposed, rhythm:

  • Opening with a Balinese ritual (Melukat).
  • Morning practices: yoga, pranayama, meditation, often facing the sunrise.
  • Breathing time: Free Flow (beach, pool, massages, walks, integration).
  • Guided sessions: breathwork, intuitive dance, writing, talking circles, ceremonies.
  • In the evening: sound baths, fire ceremonies, cocoa, live music or silent rituals.

Each retreat is personalized for the group and can evolve according to the energies of the moment, the weather, or the inspirations of the speakers.

A variety of deep-rooted mind-body practices

Intaaya calls on a selection of internationally renowned therapists, teachers and Balinese practitioners to orchestrate immersive and powerful sessions:

  • Yoga: Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini, intuitive yoga, depending on the time of day and theme.
  • Breathwork: deep conscious breathing sessions to release blockages.
  • Sound Healing: sound journeys with vibratory instruments, sacred chants and gong baths.
  • Intuitive dance and ecstatic dance, to express emotion through the body.
  • Guided meditations and nature immersions, in the forest or on the beach.
  • Ritual ceremonies: water, fire, cocoa, blue lotus, with incense, Balinese chanting and guidance.
  • Creative workshops: silk painting, intuitive writing, singing, vision rituals.

Everything is optional, but very tempting! You can choose to experience everything, or simply observe and integrate.

Spaces designed for introspection

At Intaaya, places dedicated to well-being are spaces that convey meaning. The Manta Yoga Shala, an immense open structure designed in homage to the manta ray, seems to float between sky and ocean. It hosts group practices (yoga at dawn, collective ceremonies, vibratory concerts) in a light atmosphere.

A few steps away, the Tea Temple invites you to slow down. Air-conditioned and enveloping, this pavilion of silence welcomes more confidential moments: tea ceremonies, sharing circles, guided meditations. In the evening, around the fire, bodies relax, voices rise and stories are shared. The flame becomes a guide. And further down, the private beach, accessible by a staircase carved into the cliff. This is one of the few places on the island where you can meditate alone facing the sea.

Spa and treatments: touching the essential

Leaning against the cliff, almost invisible, the Intaaya spa reveals itself like a well-kept secret. Massages, performed with vegetable oils infused with local medicinal plants, are inspired by Balinese traditions, yet tailored to each individual’s body. Rituals include facials using herbs gathered from the estate’s gardens, sound baths accompanied by chanting, energy healing sessions, anchoring or liberation ceremonies. Every gesture is slow, precise and intentional. This spa is an extension of Intaaya’s breath, a place where we find ourselves in our entirety.

Phased retirement as a transition

The benefits of Intaaya unfold day by day. Each retreat follows a progression inspired by the five elements: water to initiate letting go, fire to awaken power, air to expand the spirit, earth to regain anchorage, and finally the ether – tackled on the sixth day – which invites us to broaden our perception, to open up to intuition, to the invisible. This changeover naturally paves the way for the seventh day, devoted entirely to silence.

This suspended time often has a powerful effect. Not as a conclusion, but as an integration. And when you leave, something has changed, subtly and profoundly. Because at Intaaya, well-being isn’t an objective, it’s a consequence. That of a place designed to bring out what really matters, gently and always without forcing. And from that point of view, every stay becomes unique and transforming!

Mindful eating at INTAAYA

Here, everything is plant-based, lively and tasty. Far from an ascetic vegetarianism, Intaaya’s cuisine draws on the land and sea to offer a sensory culinary experience full of texture, color and comfort. The chefs work exclusively with produce from the permaculture garden and local farming partners, in a spirit of seasonality and respect for the living.

All meals are served in the main restaurant, where you can share a table with a view of the horizon. Or, on request, you can enjoy a more intimate meal on the beach or on the terrace of your tent. At all hours, the Botanical Bar offers medicinal herbal teas, fresh juices and specialty Balinese coffees. And in the Tea Temple, a place dedicated to ceremonies and calm, infusions are also moments of presence.

Every day: Sunrise Harvest breakfast, fresh plant juices, nourishing snacks between sessions, lunches and dinners based on root vegetables, medicinal plants, tropical fruits, seeds and legumes. Detox, vegan and gluten-free options are always available, but nothing is dogmatic. The cuisine remains generous, intuitive and deeply alive.
